Now, go to graduate school to shape your way of life!

During the four years of undergraduate study, students are required to focus on learning that enriches their social life, or basic education, and it is difficult to devote much time to “research and development,” which is the most exciting part of engineering. In graduate school, however, “research and development” is the main focus, and it is possible to concentrate on it. After entering graduate school, students must learn and master many things related to their research theme in order to develop their research. It requires spontaneous creation while absorbing advanced expertise.

The graduate school requires students to present at academic conferences and research meetings outside of the university. Many graduate students have presented their research not only at domestic conferences but also at international conferences held outside of Japan, and many have received awards such as the Research Encouragement Award and the Outstanding Presenter Award. Presenting research outside of the university means that students can attend presentations by graduate students and faculty from other universities as well as researchers from companies, which helps them not only to understand and master the content of their research, but also to learn how to make presentations. In addition, you will be able to interact not only with researchers from companies but also with researchers from all over the world at international conferences. This experience will not only make you aware of your own immaturity, but will also help you establish guidelines and policies on what you should do in the future. Under the research guidance of your supervisor, you will acquire the skills necessary for research and development in the future, such as the ability to write research papers, presentation skills, and communication skills. In addition, many companies are engaged in research and development not by university graduates but by people with postgraduate degrees.

Graduate school is a place where you can improve yourself, enjoy yourself, and experience what is important for your research. We encourage you to go on to graduate school to systematically learn advanced education and develop your research. I hope that you will complete your studies as an engineer with a thorough understanding and experience of the research process, and that you will have grown to be far ahead of your peers. Entering graduate school is one of the few opportunities in your life where you can develop and demonstrate your abilities. It is essential to go to graduate school in order to design and shape your way of life.
