(Purpose)

Article 1

  1. This regulation, based on Article 14 of the Tohoku Gakuin University Learning Commons Regulations, sets forth the necessary matters concerning the use of the Tohoku Gakuin University Learning Commons (hereinafter referred to as "the Learning Commons") established by Tohoku Gakuin University (hereinafter referred to as "the University").

(facility)

Article 2

  1. In these regulations, "Learning Commons" refers to the Learning Commons within the Hoy Memorial and the Collatelier Library (Learning Commons) within the Schneider Memorial.

(Purpose and Use)

Article 3

  1. The purpose of a learning commons is to provide and support a space for students' proactive learning activities, particularly collaborative learning, to share and deepen their learning.
  2. Users of the Learning Commons may engage in the following activities:
    1. Independent learning activities by individuals or groups and support for such activities
    2. We organize presentations, poster sessions, symposiums, panel discussions, lectures, seminars, workshops, etc.
    3. Learning activities linked to course subjects such as lectures, exercises, and practical training, and support for such activities.
    4. Research on learning support
    5. Other activities that serve the purpose of the preceding paragraph

(user)

Article 4

  1. Those who may use the Learning Commons are the following:
    1. Students of this university (including international students, research students, non-degree students, and auditing students)
    2. Faculty and staff of this university (including fixed-term faculty, part-time lecturers, professors emeritus, visiting professors, visiting researchers, and contract staff).
    3. Other persons approved by the Director of the Learning Commons
  2. Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, the area of the Learning Commons facility designated by the Director of the Learning Commons may be made available for use by persons from outside the university.

(Application Procedure)

Article 5

  1. Those wishing to use the Learning Commons must follow the procedures specified for each service provided.

(Usage hours, etc.)

Article 6

  1. The hours during which the Learning Commons can be used are limited to those specified in the Tohoku Gakuin University Buildings and Facilities Management Regulations.
  2. Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, the Director of the Learning Commons may, as necessary, order changes to the hours and areas of use, as well as the suspension of use.

(Prohibited matters)

Article 7

  1. The following actions are prohibited within the Learning Commons facilities:
    1. Loud conversation
    2. Mobile phone calls and online meeting conversations outside of designated areas
    3. Eating and drinking outside designated areas
    4. Use of equipment not related to learning activities
    5. Unauthorized postings within the facility
    6. Various solicitation activities
    7. Unauthorized removal of installed or loaned equipment, etc.
    8. Other prohibited acts as announced in notices, etc.
  2. If a person who engages in any of the prohibited activities described in the preceding paragraph fails to cease the behavior despite being warned, the Director of the Learning Commons may order that person to leave the facility.

(Use prohibited)

Article 8

  1. The Learning Commons Director may order a temporary ban on use of the Learning Commons for any person who violates these regulations and causes significant disruption to the management and operation of the Learning Commons.

(Administrative)

Article 9

  1. All matters related to these regulations shall be handled by the Library Information Section of the Library Department.

(Revision/Abolition)

Article 10

  1. Any amendment or repeal of these regulations shall be initiated by the Tohoku Gakuin University Learning Commons Conference, approved by the Faculty Council, carried out by the President, and then approved by the Board of Directors.
Supplementary provisions
These regulations shall come into effect on April 1, 2016.

These regulations will come into effect on July 3, 2024, and will apply from April 1, 2024.

These regulations shall come into effect on April 1, 2025.

These regulations shall come into effect on April 1, 2026.
