How does it differ from existing faculties like the "Faculty of Informatics" or the "Faculty of Engineering"?

This faculty places great emphasis on "how to implement and realize ideas in society."

Within the science and engineering fields, we delve deeply into areas such as entrepreneurship and social innovation, exploring not only technological understanding but also how to implement it in society.

Regarding entrance examinations and admission

Can I take the entrance exam even if I majored in humanities in high school?

Yes, our faculty and department welcomes applications from a wide range of students, including those with humanities backgrounds.

If you are interested in solving social issues with digital technology, you can apply even if you did not take physics in high school. You can also study mathematics by using the AI unit completion type comprehensive selection process. In addition, students in this faculty can take courses to learn fundamental subjects such as mathematics and physics after enrollment.

Regarding the curriculum

What kind of places will we be going to specifically for the PBL (Project-Based Learning) sessions?

We plan to conduct fieldwork by actually visiting areas in the Tohoku region, primarily Miyagi Prefecture, where regional issues are particularly prominent.

Although our university is a private university located in Miyagi Prefecture, we will not limit our field of study to Miyagi Prefecture alone. Instead, we plan to conduct project-based learning (PBL) including field surveys, primarily in Miyagi Prefecture, but also in areas within the Tohoku region where regional issues are particularly prominent.

Do you create software using programming?

The main approach is to utilize existing software.

This faculty's curriculum is not designed to train software development experts, therefore, we do not plan to have students create software from scratch.
However, we encourage the use of conversational AI to write programs and develop original software.

Regarding career paths

What kinds of jobs do you anticipate in the future?

My role primarily involves planning and leading projects that use technology to solve problems.

This faculty aims to cultivate the ability to devise solutions to problems using digital technology, develop concrete plans for social implementation, and manage projects while collaborating with relevant parties. Potential career paths include project manager/product manager, business planner, or technical director in companies or government agencies.

How can this be used in the future?

You can broaden your career options based on the amount of learning you accumulate during your time at school.

Our faculty provides an environment where students can be exposed to and utilize a variety of cutting-edge technologies. By actively engaging in learning, students can acquire knowledge and experience in advanced technologies such as IoT, VR devices, and AI. We believe that gaining experience in implementing the knowledge and skills acquired to solve local issues will be valuable in job hunting and after graduation.
