The Department of Regional Design places an emphasis on 'genba', i.e., students are expected to undertake various kinds of fieldwork and to visit and experience various regional planning activities. Students must undertake project analysis not only from the perspective of a specialist, but also from the perspective of local residents and users, to the end that each project can be fully utilized in improving people's lifestyles. This department aims to graduate students who will take the initiative in their work and who will be able to work well with others to improve the lifestyle of the local residents and users without having to rely on the local government and bureaucracy.
