What is an internship?
Many students have a vague idea of what they want to do after graduation, but they often finish their university life without a clear understanding of how they can utilize the knowledge and experience they gained in society, or what it truly means to work.
Internships are a valuable opportunity to address such questions, deepen one's understanding of work by experiencing a real workplace, and consider future career development. In recent years, internships have been positioned as an important initiative in national education policy, aimed at fostering students' professional awareness and improving their professional skills, and are being actively implemented through collaboration between industry, academia, and government.
Internship information is posted on job hunting-related websites and also on the "Web Bulletin Board" on our university's career support website, so please check there carefully.
Please note that when participating in internships or similar programs, we recommend that you take out liability insurance to cover personal injury and property damage. If you meet the requirements, you can apply for liability insurance at the Career Support Office. Please carefully read the information on "Work Experience (Internship) Related Procedures" on the Career Support website before applying.
Regarding participation in internships and absences from classes
The handling of absences from classes is at the discretion of the instructor. If your job search conflicts with a class, first explain the reason to the hiring manager at the company or organization and request a change of date and time. If you are unable to change the date and time, please consult with your instructor. If your instructor requests that you submit an absence notification form, please refer to the "Absence Notification Form Sample" posted on the course support website when creating and submitting it.
Application procedures for participating in an internship
While it's common to see this in the application process for internships at government agencies, sometimes students are instructed to apply through their university rather than directly to the government agency.
As universities need to prepare documents and follow procedures when applying to government agencies, please submit the necessary documents to the Career Support Division at least 10 days before the deadline set by the government agency.
Please note that if you are submitting your application less than 10 days in advance, you must contact the Career Support Office in person or by phone. In such cases, we may not be able to process your application, so please be aware of this beforehand.
