What is the President's Research Grant?
The President's Research Grant is a research support system established in 2012 for faculty members. Its purpose is to encourage and support interdisciplinary research and intellectual activities, providing support in areas such as activities and funding to research teams composed of faculty members from multiple different faculties. Initially, the grant focused on research and intellectual activities related to the recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011, with themes including the reconstruction of affected areas and disaster prevention education. Research results obtained using this grant are publicized through symposiums and publication in academic journals, making it an important system from the perspective of contributing to the community through education and research.
Subsequently, in fiscal year 2014, in response to the increasing diversity of problems and needs arising in various administrative departments of the university, the "President's Research Grant (Research on Administrative Staff Operations)" system was added, targeting administrative staff. This system, aimed at staff, is expected to support cross-functional research activities that enable administrative staff to share information and conduct collaborative research to solve problems related to tasks and issues they regularly encounter, thereby promoting cooperation between administrative departments.
Furthermore, in 2016, as part of efforts to address the evolving circumstances surrounding universities, the "President's Grant for Educational Reform Research" was established with the aim of resolving urgent issues in education and research at our university, as well as problems affecting the university as a whole. It is expected that the results of this research will be applied to education and research, contributing to human resource development, and also leading to an improvement in the social presence of our university.

The theme of this project is "Research or problem-solving activities related to educational reform at this university," and it aims to produce the following four effects.
- We aim to further enhance our commitment to reforming education and research at this university, address urgent issues facing the university and problems across the entire institution, and propose solutions that can be implemented.
- This research activity will contribute to the enrichment of the university's educational and research activities.
- This research activity is expected to contribute to human resource development and enhance Tohoku Gakuin University's presence.
- We aim to improve the quality of students' learning by actively incorporating digital technologies.
