Overview and Greetings
Tohoku Gakuin University Museum is a university museum located adjacent to the university's Tsuchitoi Campus, facing Atago-Uesugi Street in the heart of Sendai. Its purpose is to collect, organize, preserve, exhibit, and disseminate academically valuable materials related to the university's educational and research achievements, thereby communicating the university's activities to society. Furthermore, it serves as a practical training facility for museum curator certification courses within university museums, providing learning opportunities using actual artifacts.
The building is a single-story steel-frame structure with a total floor area of approximately 300 square meters. It consists of an exhibition room of 180 square meters, a workshop area of 80 square meters, a storage area of 30 square meters, as well as offices, restrooms, and other facilities.
Greetings
The Tohoku Gakuin University Museum is a "window" to society for the university, showcasing the results of education and research conducted at Tohoku Gakuin University, as well as the academic materials collected during that process. It also serves as a practical training ground for students aspiring to become museum curators.
Since its opening on November 17, 2009, the museum has showcased various educational and research activities of the university, including the achievements of Department of History Faculty of Letters. Furthermore, it has actively participated in community activities, such as the rescue of museums and cultural properties damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake. As both a university museum and a museum serving the community, we intend to continue fulfilling this role. We ask for your continued understanding and support.
