Regarding the publication of OPANOS

As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of Tohoku Gakuin University's founding in 1999, we launched our public relations magazine, "OPANOS." This magazine is published to widely share with the public a part of the diverse educational and research activities of the university as a higher education institution that responds to the demands of the times and society, and also to further promote information sharing among the university's faculty and staff.

Introduction to OPANOS

"Opanos" is a Greek word meaning "heaven." Jesus Christ tells the parable of the kingdom of heaven, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed. A man takes it and plants it in a field, and though it is the smallest of all seeds, it grows into a tree that is the largest of all vegetables, and birds of the air come and make nests in its branches" (Matthew 13:31-32). The word Opanos is also used in this passage.
