Faculty characteristics

Acquire knowledge and culture
To the local community, to the world.

This faculty aims to cultivate "good global citizens" who can think and act together with people from diverse backgrounds. Emphasis is placed on broadly considering the world while maintaining a focus on Japan and East Asia, and on discovering the root of problems and challenges to be solved while learning about the diversity of language, culture, and society. This faculty aspires to provide an environment that is a microcosm of globalized society. Interacting with faculty members who collaborate using multiple languages, transcending differences in national origin and field of expertise, will make "internationalism" feel more accessible. Since Japanese is often the common language in Japan's multilingual environment, we also offer programs to learn about Japanese language education. There are also opportunities to practically learn intercultural communication through activities supporting foreigners in the community.
