Learning about "living" from the basics of reading and writing.
Inheriting the founding principles of the university, students can broadly and deeply study three fields: Christian studies, philosophy and thought, culture and art, and religion and theology. Understanding the historical context and ideas that shaped culture and history is key to understanding the present and future. Students will engage with culture, including art and religion, interpret it, express their thoughts in writing, accumulate insights and engage in discussions, and cultivate the ability to view things from multiple perspectives and solve problems (i.e., the ability to live).
Specialized fields
- Thought/Philosophy
- This course focuses on European philosophy from ancient times to the present, as well as Eastern and Japanese philosophy and thought, and also covers contemporary ethical issues such as the environment and life.
- Culture and Arts
- Students will study a wide range of subjects, including European music and art, which developed alongside Christianity, as well as American and Japanese culture.
- Religion/theology
- You can study Old and New Testament studies, Christian history, Christian thought, theology, etc. You will also gain a deeper knowledge of various religions around the world.
