Within the framework of school education
Aiming to achieve more effective instruction

My research focuses on learning habits and motivation in junior high school education. My long-term goal is to achieve student understanding and guidance that can resolve student problems within the school system. I also focus on the architect William Merrell Vories and investigate the history of architectural metalwork in Western-style architecture in Japan.

  • Main research areas: School education, Christian education, moral education, educational technology
  • Courses taught: Christian education, methods of teaching religious education, teaching practice
Research topic

Our research broadly covers school education, with a particular focus on the development of "morality," "self-esteem," and "motivation and habits to learn." Through surveys and analyses using statistical methods, we aim to clarify how these are formed and how they are linked to educational practices.

Furthermore, in the field of Western cultural education, we develop teaching materials utilizing ICT, 3D printers, and laser cutters, providing opportunities for experiential learning.

Research Topics

Our research is centered around three main pillars.

Development of human morality, ethics, self-esteem, and social skills
To identify the factors influencing these developments, we conduct practical research, investigations, and verifications in collaboration with educators.
Experiential Practice of Western Cultural Education
In Japan, opportunities to experience Western culture, particularly its art, are limited. To address this challenge, we are implementing "experiential Western cultural education" using 3D models and other technologies.
William Merrell Vories Studies
We are focusing on the achievements of William Merrell Vories, an architect and missionary who was active throughout Japan from the Meiji period onward, particularly his domestic production and popularization of the architectural hardware "OSC." We are conducting a survey of existing architectural hardware used in Western-style buildings, including the National Diet Building.
