The Faculty of Engineering at Tohoku Gakuin University emphasizes education that combines specialized knowledge grounded in fundamental science with practical manufacturing skills. The founder and first president of Tohoku Gakuin, Masayoshi Oshikawa, championed the philosophy of "making Tohoku the Scotland of Japan."
