Philosophy/purpose

Our aim is to cultivate individuals who understand the engineering technologies necessary for human happiness and the creation of a desirable environment, and who can think for themselves. Furthermore, based on the founding principles of our university, we aim to train "engineering professionals with broad general knowledge and a sound sense of ethics" who can contribute to human society.

Faculty Overview

Faculty of Engineering The school offers four departments covering the three major fields of engineering: the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Department of Mechanical Engineering and Intelligent Systems), the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering (Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Department of Information Technology), and the Department of Civil Engineering (Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering).

The Department of Department of Mechanical Engineering and Intelligent Systems offers foundational subjects in mechanical manufacturing from the basics, and students can choose from four courses that include cutting-edge engineering such as automobiles, robotics, and bio-structures. These include the Smart Design course, where students learn about moving objects from material properties to design; the Green Energy Systems course, where students learn about engines and energy systems from the perspective of heat and fluids; the Bio-Robotics course, where students learn about computer-controlled machines that help humans from an engineering standpoint; and the Mechano-Engineering course, where students take a broad view of the mechanical field and learn how to solve diverse problems with comprehensive knowledge.

The Department of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering provides a comprehensive education in electrical technologies that support modern society, covering "Power and Control Systems," "Information and Communication Systems," and "Electronics and Materials Systems." Students will acquire cutting-edge knowledge in power generation and transmission technologies utilizing information technology, as well as new materials and device technologies that will support future information and communication. In Power and Control Systems, students will learn about stable supply and efficient control of electrical energy. In Information and Communication Systems, students will learn the fundamentals of the four basic IT technologies (information conversion, information processing, information transmission, and information exchange) that support the advanced information society. In Electronics and Materials Systems, students will learn about high-performance electronic devices that support social infrastructure and electronic materials for pioneering new electronics.

The Department of Department of Information Technology provides a thorough education in the principles of information and communication engineering technology, which forms the foundation of modern society, starting from the basics of mathematics, and cultivates individuals who can pioneer the future in the rapidly changing field of ICT. In the Data Science field, students aim to become data scientists who can process the big data generated by the internet. In the Communication Network field, students aim to become communication and network engineers who have mastered mobile communication and sensor network technologies. In the Cybersecurity field, students learn cybersecurity technologies such as cryptography from the basics and aim to become information security specialists.

Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering aims to cultivate construction engineers with a foundation in environmental engineering. In their second year, students are divided into two courses: the Environmental Civil Engineering course and the Architecture course, each following a different curriculum. In the Environmental Civil Engineering course, students acquire skills ranging from planning and designing advanced social infrastructure structures that meet local needs to construction management, and learn about the mechanisms of natural disasters and countermeasures against their damage. Furthermore, they develop the ability to find solutions to environmental problems facing cities, such as environmental pollution and waste disposal. In the Architecture course, students can learn about the "charm" of architecture from multiple perspectives, such as attractive spatial design and safe, highly functional, and highly efficient buildings, in line with their own career aspirations.
