Research topic

I am interested in clarifying the political and religious meanings of early modern English plays, such as those written by Shakespeare, by placing them within the context of the period in which they were written. For example, I am using existing public documents to uncover doubts about the king's sacred innate rights as depicted in the plays, and the issue of conversion to Catholicism faced by characters in Islamic countries. I am also working on clarifying the contextual meaning of English poetry from a historical positivist perspective.
