My research focuses on library and information science and education, particularly the question of "What is a library?" and the significance of libraries in education.
Research Topics
My research focuses on the question, "What is a library?" by examining the ideas of S.R. Ranganathan (1892-1972), an Indian librarian, thinker, practitioner, and activist, particularly from an educational perspective. Ranganathan is well-known in the field of library and information science for his "The Five Laws of Library Science," but research beyond that has not progressed much in Japan. However, he was actually a thinker who explored libraries based on educational principles, and he left behind many works that offer significant insights into Japanese libraries, which are currently at a turning point. Based on these works, I aim to think more deeply about the essence of libraries than anyone else in Japan and offer solutions.
