Application Guidelines for Auditing Students in Academic Year 2026

This program opens up the university's lectures to the general public as part of efforts to improve general knowledge and lifelong learning. Please note that auditing students are solely for the purpose of attending lectures and will not receive academic credit.

Important Notes(Please be sure to read these)

Our university encourages BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), so classes are conducted using computers and smartphones. (Class management, including attendance tracking, checking for class cancellations and make-up classes, submitting comments, accessing materials, and class announcements, is conducted using the university's student portal site, "MYTG.")

Furthermore, depending on the circumstances, you may be required to attend classes at home using a computer. Please be aware of this in advance, and if you wish to become an auditing student at this university for these reasons,

  1. ① You must own a portable computer and smartphone and be able to perform basic operations (such as creating reports, creating and sending/receiving emails, using web conferencing systems like Google Meet, and downloading mobile applications).
  2. ② Having an internet connection at home

That is the condition.

1. Eligibility Requirements

Those who fall under any of the following categories

  1. Those who have graduated from a secondary school or high school.
  2. Those who have completed 12 years of schooling through a regular curriculum (including those who have completed equivalent schooling through a curriculum other than the regular curriculum).
  3. Persons who have completed a 12-year course of schooling in a foreign country, or persons equivalent thereto, as designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
  4. Those who have completed a higher course at a specialized training college (limited to those with a minimum study period of three years or more and meeting other criteria set by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) designated separately by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, on or after the date set by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
  5. Persons who have completed a course at an overseas educational institution that has been recognized by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as having a curriculum equivalent to that of a high school.
  6. Persons designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
  7. Those who have passed the High School Graduation Equivalency Examination under the High School Graduation Equivalency Examination Regulations (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Ordinance No. 1 of 2005) (including those who passed the University Entrance Qualification Examination Regulations under the old regulations (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Ordinance No. 13 of 1951)).
  8. Other individuals recognized by this university as having reached a certain age and possessing academic abilities equivalent to or higher than those of a high school graduate.

2. Restrictions on the types of courses and the number of courses to be audited.

    *We are unable to answer questions regarding subjects, class days, or class times before this period.

  • The auditing period is generally one semester or one year, and the number of courses that can be audited is limited to the equivalent of 30 credits per year.

3. Recruitment personnel

Each faculty and department will recruit students to the extent that it does not interfere with the education and research of regular students. Therefore, depending on the number of students enrolled, you may not be allowed to audit the course.

*Courses with no registered students will not be offered. In such cases, you will be asked to change your auditing course. Thank you for your understanding.

4. Application documents

From Wednesday, February 25, 2026 onwards, please either pick it up directly at the counter or download it from the link below.

*Due to recent revisions to postal rates and the principle of beneficiary pays, we will no longer mail application guidelines and forms starting with the 2026 application period. These documents will either be available for direct pickup at the counter or downloaded by applicants. We appreciate your understanding.

8. Others

  • Auditors are not eligible for grade evaluation and will not receive academic credit.
  • Students will be issued student ID cards.
  • Auditors can use facilities such as the library.
  • The only certificate that can be issued to auditing students is a "Certificate of Enrollment." Student discount certificates for JR (Japan Railways) and other services cannot be used.
  • If you are unable to follow the instructions of this university, you may be asked to refrain from attending the lectures.
