(Purpose)

Article 1

1. The provisions of these regulations apply to non-degree students enrolled in courses as stipulated in Article 35 of the Tohoku Gakuin University Graduate Schools Regulations (hereinafter referred to as "the Regulations").

(Qualification)

Article 2

1. Those eligible to apply as non-degree students are those qualified for the doctoral program (first stage) or master's program as defined in Article 20 of the university regulations.

(Application documents)

Article 3

1. Applicants wishing to apply as non-degree students must submit the following documents and the application fee (half of the entrance application fee) by the specified deadline.
   1. Application form (the form provided by the university)
   2. Graduation certificate from your last attended school
   3. Academic transcript from the last school attended
   4. Health certificate (only for those who apply)
   5. Those currently employed require a letter of permission from their supervisor (any format is acceptable).
   6. Foreign nationals must submit a copy of their Alien Registration Certificate and a copy of their passport.

Article 4

1. For those who have undergone the procedures described in the preceding article, admission will be permitted by the President after deliberation by the Graduate School Committee and Graduate Schools Committee, provided that it does not interfere with the classes of regular students. However, this is limited to courses for which regular students are already registered.

Article 5

1. Those permitted to enroll must submit the required documents by the specified date and pay the entrance fee (one-quarter of Graduate Schools entrance fee) and the course fee (one-thirtieth of the tuition fee for the relevant graduate school, per credit).

(Non-refund of payments)

Article 6

1. Examination fees, entrance fees, and course fees already paid will not be refunded for any reason.

(Enrollment period and duration of study)

Article 7

1. The enrollment period for non-degree students is the beginning of the academic year, and the period of enrollment shall be the academic year. However, permission may be granted to those who request to continue their studies for a period not exceeding two years, and Articles 3 to 6 shall apply mutatis mutandis.

(Course enrollment restrictions)

Article 8

1. Non-degree students cannot earn more than 12 credits in a year.

(Credit recognition)

Article 9

1. Non-degree students can take examinations for the subjects they have enrolled in. Those who pass the examinations may, upon request, be awarded credits for the relevant courses and issued a certificate of credit acquisition.
2. Those who pass the examination may, upon request, be awarded credits for the relevant course and issued a certificate of credit acquisition.

(Administrative)

Article 10

1. All matters related to these regulations will be handled by Graduate Schools Division of the Academic Affairs Department.

(Revision/Abolition)

Article 11

1. Any revision or repeal of these regulations shall be carried out by the President after deliberation by the Graduate School Committee and Graduate Schools Committee, and shall be subject to approval by the Board of Directors.

Supplementary provisions

1. These regulations shall come into effect on April 1, 1997, and shall apply to applicants for admission in the 1997 academic year.
2. The "Regulations for Auditing Students of Tohoku Gakuin Graduate Schools," established on April 1, 1973, are hereby abolished.

Supplementary Provisions (April 1, 2006)

1. These regulations shall come into effect on April 1, 2006, and shall apply to applicants for admission in the 2006 academic year.

Supplementary Provisions (Revised No. 4, January 30, 2019)

These regulations shall come into effect on January 30, 2019 (Heisei 31).

Supplementary Provisions (Revised No. 196, September 20, 2020)

These regulations will come into effect on September 20, 2023, and will apply from April 1, 2023.

These internal regulations will come into effect on May 30, 2024, and will apply from April 1, 2024.
