Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering structures its curriculum around three pillars: civil engineering, architecture, and environment—fields essential to societal activities. Graduates of this department work on projects that become landmarks in cities, such as the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the Tomei Expressway, railway facilities like the Shinkansen, and buildings like the Tokyo Olympic Stadium and Sendai Mediatheque. Furthermore, graduates also work on facilities directly related to people's health and safety, such as water and sewage systems and water treatment plants, as well as disaster prevention measures against ground and structural damage caused by earthquakes and rainfall. We guide our students to develop creativity, aesthetic sense, pride in their work, and the fundamental abilities to create buildings and structures with safety as the top priority.

During your first year, you will take introductory courses in three fields: civil engineering, architecture, and environmental engineering, encouraging you to consider your future career path. In your second year, you will split into the Architecture course and the Environmental Civil Engineering course, where more specialized education will begin.
