Philosophy and Goals
Philosophy/purpose
To foster internationally-reliable engineers who can be trusted and expected to contribute to humanity through intelligent manufacturing.
Educational goals
The education in the Department of Department of Mechanical Engineering and Intelligent Systems aims to achieve the following:
- Training mechanical engineers who can conduct their own research and utilize their knowledge and skills
- Acquiring diverse problem-solving skills
- Strengthening flexible thinking that can respond to technological innovation based on a broad range of education
- Thorough understanding of natural sciences and strengthening of applied skills based on that understanding
The ideal student for this department
- Possess the basic academic skills in mathematics, physics, and English required to study mechanical engineering.
- Students will develop the independence and self-reliance necessary for engineers, and will be aware of their responsibilities as members of society and have the desire to actively learn.
- Have a clear reason for applying to this department, and have activities or experiences that clarify that reason, and be able to express it in your own words.
Undergraduate learning objectives
- 1. I recognize the importance of engineering ethics and, as an engineer, I can give due consideration to coexistence with nature.
Along with the qualities that should be cultivated as a person, such as "having an attitude of striving to live well" and "being able to perceive and think about things from a broad and diverse perspective," as stated in our university's "Policy on Degree Conferral," we also fully recognize the importance of engineering ethics in order to fulfill our responsibilities as engineers.
- 2. Possesses the fundamental skills required of an engineer, as well as an understanding of the basic principles and mechanisms of machines and systems.
Students acquire fundamental engineering knowledge in fields such as mathematics, physics, and information technology, and based on that knowledge, they understand the basic principles and mechanisms of machines and systems.
- 3. Students will acquire the fundamentals of analyzing and designing machines and systems, and will be able to prototype and evaluate design problems based on those skills.
Students will acquire the fundamentals for planning measurement and control, design and drafting, and manufacturing methods and processes related to machinery and systems, and will be able to use these to prototype deliverables for design assignments and evaluate them.
- 4. We can propose machines and systems that are beneficial to people and society.
Students will be able to identify problems and challenges with machines and systems around them, and propose and present methods for improvement or alternative solutions.
