History

Graduate School of Human Informatics (Human Informatics) is based on the university’s Department of Liberal Arts (Faculty of Liberal Arts) (established on April 1, Heisei 1 as a single department comprising three majors—“Human Sciences,” “Linguistic Sciences,” and “Information Sciences”), and the Master’s Program in Human Informatics (Graduate School of Human Informatics) was first established in Heisei 6 (1994).

Furthermore, in April Heisei 8 (1996), with the establishment of the Doctoral Program in Human Information Science at Graduate School of Human Informatics, the Master’s Program was renamed the Pre-Doctoral Program; and in Heisei 17 (2005), following organizational changes at Faculty of Liberal Arts, the Regional Planning field was added, bringing the program to its current form.
