I. In addition to undergraduate courses, Graduate Schools also offer courses for certified psychologists.

The Department Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences in the Faculty Faculty of Human Sciences has made it possible for students entering in 2023 to take the undergraduate courses (25 subjects) required to be eligible to take the national examination for certified psychologists. In addition, Graduate Schools entering in 2022 in the Master's Program Graduate School of Human Informatics will be able to take Graduate Schools courses for certified psychologists (10 subjects; however, at this university, the Psychological Practice Training course is divided into two subjects, so it will be 11 subjects). As a result, as shown in the diagram below, after graduating from the Department Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences in the Faculty of Faculty of Human Sciences at Tohoku Gakuin University, students can proceed to the Master's Program in Graduate School of Human Informatics at Tohoku Gakuin Graduate Schools and obtain eligibility to take the national examination for certified psychologists. Furthermore, from 2026, a certified psychologist course will be introduced, allowing for the acceptance of up to 8 students per year who wish to become certified psychologists. In addition, as an environment to cultivate practical skills in psychological support, a university-affiliated external psychological counseling room (Tohoku Gakuin University Psychological Counseling Room) will be established for local residents.

II. Points to Note Regarding Course Enrollment and Enrollment Limits for Practical Training and Seminar Courses

Both undergraduate and Graduate Schools are required to complete all required courses for becoming a certified psychologist during their enrollment. It is not possible to add any missing credits after graduating from undergraduate school or Graduate Schools. Therefore, only students who have completed all 25 required undergraduate courses for becoming a certified psychologist are eligible to take certified psychologist courses in graduate Graduate Schools. Please note that some of these courses are not included in the graduation requirements of this university.

Both undergraduate and Graduate Schools programs have enrollment limits for practical training and seminar-type courses. If you have not earned credits for other certified psychologist courses by the year these courses are offered, you should assume you will not be able to enroll in these practical training and seminar-type courses.

III. Exemption from entrance fees and other expenses, various antibody tests and vaccinations.

Graduates of Tohoku Gakuin University's undergraduate programs who enroll in the university's Graduate Schools are exempt from Graduate Schools entrance fee (270,000 yen: 2024 academic year). On the other hand, when taking practical training courses for certified psychologists (undergraduate psychology practical training and Graduate Schools psychology practical training I and II), practical training fees are required in addition to tuition fees, depending on the course. Furthermore, various antibody tests and vaccinations are required during practical training at hospitals and other facilities, and these costs must also be borne by the student.
