I. In addition to undergraduate courses, Graduate Schools will also cover subjects for certified psychologists.
Faculty of Liberal Arts Department of Human Science Starting with students admitted in the 2019 academic year, Faculty of Human Sciences and Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences have allowed students to take the 25 undergraduate courses required to qualify for the national certification exam for Licensed Psychologists, beginning with students admitted in the 2023 academic year.In addition, Graduate Schools Graduate School of Human Informatics students in the Master’s program have been able to take the Graduate Schools courses required for the Certified Psychologist examination (10 courses; however, since the “Psychological Practice Internship” is divided into two courses at our university, the total is 11 courses) starting with students admitted in the 2022 academic year.As a result, as shown in the figure below, after graduating from Tohoku Gakuin University Faculty of Liberal Arts Department of Human Science or Tohoku Gakuin University Faculty of Human Sciences Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences, students can advance to the Master’s program at Tohoku Gakuin University Graduate Schools Graduate School of Human Informatics and qualify to take the national examination for Certified Psychologists.

II. Points to Note Regarding Course Enrollment and Enrollment Limits for Practical Training and Seminar Courses
Both undergraduate and Graduate Schools are required to complete all required courses for becoming a certified psychologist during their enrollment. It is not possible to add any missing credits after graduating from undergraduate school or Graduate Schools. Therefore, only students who have completed all 25 required undergraduate courses for becoming a certified psychologist are eligible to take certified psychologist courses in graduate Graduate Schools. Please note that some of these courses are not included in the graduation requirements of this university.
Both undergraduate and Graduate Schools programs have enrollment limits for practical training and seminar-type courses. If you have not earned credits for other certified psychologist courses by the year these courses are offered, you should assume you will not be able to enroll in these practical training and seminar-type courses.
III. Exemption from entrance fees and other expenses, various antibody tests and vaccinations.
Graduates of Tohoku Gakuin University's undergraduate programs who enroll in the university's Graduate Schools are exempt from Graduate Schools entrance fee (270,000 yen: 2024 academic year). On the other hand, when taking practical training courses for certified psychologists (undergraduate psychology practical training and Graduate Schools psychology practical training I and II), practical training fees ranging from 15,000 to over 100,000 yen are required depending on the course. Furthermore, various antibody tests and vaccinations are required during practical training at hospitals and other facilities, and these costs must also be borne by the student.
