Adoption due to sudden change in household finances
System Overview
1. Target
Undergraduate students whose household finances have drastically changed due to specific reasons such as the death of the primary breadwinner or involuntary unemployment.
2. Types of support
This system allows you to receive both of the following benefits simultaneously.

*For those living with a person who is receiving public assistance (regardless of the type of assistance received) and those who will continue to attend school from a children's welfare facility, etc., after enrolling in higher education, the amounts shown in parentheses in the table above will apply.

- *1 The reduction or exemption of the entrance fee is only available to those who apply within three months of enrollment.
- *2 The tuition fee reduction amount for the first and second semesters may increase or decrease by 100 yen due to rounding.
- *3 The support category may change based on eligibility assessments, which are conducted every three months from six months to fifteen months after employment, and annually thereafter.
- *4 The monthly amount is listed as a reference by dividing the annual amount by 12, but due to rounding, the actual reduction amount will be adjusted to the nearest 100 yen.
- *5 Families with multiple children who do not fall under categories I to IV will only receive tuition reductions; they will not be provided with a monthly grant.
- *6 Category IV (Science, Engineering, and Agriculture) applies to students in Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Informatics, but only tuition reductions are provided; no monthly grants are offered.

5. Conditions for continuation
Each year, if eligibility for support is confirmed based on the results of (1) to (3) below, continued receipt of funds for the following semester is possible. Funds can be received up to the expected graduation date.

Time: Every April

How to apply
1. Application deadline
Applications must be submitted within three months of the date the sudden change occurred (or within three months of enrollment if the sudden change occurred before enrollment).
*Please note that the application period is shorter every year in March due to the end of the fiscal year. Particular caution is advised if a sudden change in household finances occurs in mid-to-late December of the current fiscal year.
