Tohoku Gakuin University Emergency Grant Scholarship

System Overview

1. Target

Undergraduate and Graduate Schools students whose household financial situation has drastically changed due to the death (excluding deaths due to natural disasters), illness, unemployment (excluding retirement), separation, etc. of the household's primary breadwinner.

2. Benefit amount (no refund required)

The equivalent of tuition fees for the semester in which the adoption decision was made.

3. Recruitment Criteria

• The household income has decreased by a percentage or more determined by the university as a result of the event, or the expenditures have increased by a percentage or more determined by the university as a result of the event.
• The household income after the event occurs must not exceed the amount set by this university.
• Having earned at least the standard number of credits.

How to apply

1. Application deadline

Within 12 months from the date the sudden change in household finances occurred (until the end of January for the graduation/completion year)

*Only events that occurred while enrolled are eligible; events that occurred before enrollment are not eligible, even if they occurred within the last 12 months.

2. Application Procedure

Please contact the following office for assistance and instructions regarding required documents.

*When applying, you will need to submit proof of income before and after the sudden change in household finances, as well as supporting documents regarding the reason for the sudden change in household finances (e.g., a death certificate in the case of death, or an employment insurance separation certificate in the case of unemployment).
