Tohoku Gakuin University Grant Scholarship
System Overview
1. Target
Undergraduate and Graduate Schools students (excluding international students) who, despite having excellent academic motivation and character, face financial difficulties in continuing their studies.
2. Benefit amount
100,000 yen per semester (maximum 200,000 yen per year)
3. Number of hires
300 people (first term: 150 people, second term: 150 people)
*This change was implemented from fiscal year 2026.
4. Payment period
First term: April to September of the hiring year, Second term: October to March of the hiring year
5. Restrictions on receiving other scholarships concurrently.
This scholarship cannot be received concurrently with the following: the new higher education support system (JASSO grant scholarship and tuition fee reduction/exemption, hereinafter referred to as the "new system" *1), the Tohoku Gakuin University reserved admission grant scholarship (hereinafter referred to as the "LIGHT UP scholarship" *2), or the Tohoku Gakuin Graduate Schools school scholarship for working adults.
- *1-1 It is possible to apply for both the new scholarship program for in-school students and this scholarship (apply for both).
- *1-2 Applications for this scholarship are possible during the period when the new system is "suspended".
- *2 The application period for the LIGHT UP scholarship is the first semester of the year of enrollment, so you can apply for this scholarship from the second semester onwards.
How to apply
1. Recruitment announcement period
First half: mid-April, second half: mid-September
2. Application Procedure

- Pickup location: Download and print the following document (A4 size) or contact the following office.

- ② Reservation of date and time for submitting documents

Please make a reservation in advance for your desired date and time to submit your documents within the application period (reservations cannot be made by phone).
*There is a limited number of reservations available for each time slot, so please book early.
Reservation start date: April 13, 2026 (Monday)
- ③ Prepare supporting documents and fill out the forms.
- ④ Submission of documents
- On the date and time you made your reservation in step ②, bring the documents you prepared and filled out in step ③ to the counter and have them checked. Submit them after they have been checked.
3. Notification of Acceptance/Rejection
First half: mid-July, second half: mid-December
*We will mail the application to all applicants regardless of whether they are accepted or rejected.
4. Payment period
First term: July 28, 2026 (tentative), Second term: December 23, 2026 (tentative)
*Please note that the date may vary by about a week due to unforeseen circumstances.
[For successful applicants only] Post-employment procedures
If you take a leave of absence, withdraw from the university, or decline the scholarship during the scholarship period, you may be required to repay the scholarship in accordance with the Tohoku Gakuin University Scholarship Regulations.
