I. What is the Social Education Specialist Course?
Course Outline
The Social Education Supervisor Course is a program that trains social education supervisors and certified social education specialists. In order to be qualified to be appointed as a social education supervisor, in accordance with Article 9-4, Paragraph 3 of the Social Education Act, it is necessary to acquire credits in "subjects related to social education" as prescribed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology at a university, and to work in a position or job related to social education at a government office or social education-related organization for at least one year after graduation. In addition, students who enroll in the 2020 academic year or later can acquire the title of "Certified Social Education Specialist (Training Course)" by acquiring the prescribed credits in the Social Education Supervisor Course.
Duties and roles of social education supervisors and social education specialists
A social education specialist is a "specialized social education officer" required by local governments, working in places like boards of education and community centers. In today's era of lifelong learning, expectations for social education, which is organized educational activity outside of school education, are high. Social education specialists support the learning activities of people in the community through the planning of social education programs, guidance and advice to stakeholders, and advice on collaborative efforts between communities and schools. They bear great responsibility as central leaders in social education administration.
Furthermore, social education specialists are "professional personnel" who are involved in community development through supporting learning activities in a wide range of social settings. Social education specialists are expected to play a role in human resource development and community building by collaborating with NPOs and companies, and not only in activities at social education facilities, but also by supporting learning activities in diverse fields of society such as the environment, welfare, and urban development.

The departments that offer the Social Education Specialist course are Faculty of Letters Department of English, the Department of Department of General Humanities, and the Department of Department of History Department of Regional Community Studies Faculty of Regional Studies the Department of Human Science, Department of Language and Culture Department of Information Science, and Department of Regional Design in Faculty of Liberal Arts Liberal Arts.
III. Regarding certificates related to social education specialists
Those who register for the qualification at the beginning of the academic year and acquire the required credits will be issued a certificate of completion for social education specialists on the day of the graduation ceremony.
