Tohoku Gakuin University Entrance Examination Implementing Regulations
(Purpose)
Article 1
- These regulations, based on Article 37 of the Tohoku Gakuin University Academic Regulations (hereinafter referred to as "Academic Regulations"), stipulate the necessary matters concerning examinations.
(Type of exam)
Article 2
- The examinations will consist of designated examinations and special examinations.
- The examination may be replaced by research reports, papers, etc.
(Designated examination)
Article 3
- A designated examination refers to a written examination conducted as part of the coursework at the final class session of each semester, which falls under any of the following categories.
- Things that require multiple classrooms
- Those requiring assistance or supervision
- Those requiring a retake
- If a faculty member administers a designated examination, they must submit a notification to the Academic Affairs Division or Academic Affairs Section (hereinafter referred to as "Academic Affairs Division") of the campus where the class is held, using the prescribed form, within the designated period, and obtain confirmation from the Director of Academic Affairs.
- In confirming the preceding paragraph, the Director of Academic Affairs may instruct that the designated examinations be conducted during a period after the regular class period as determined by the Director of Academic Affairs (hereinafter referred to as the "additional period").
(Special examination)
Article 4
- The special examination will consist of a supplementary examination and a re-examination.
- Retakes will consist of graduation retakes and advancement retakes.
(Eligibility for retake exams, etc.)
Article 5
- Students who are eligible to take a make-up exam are those who fall under any of the following categories:
- Absences due to "Reasons for Absence Eligible for Make-up Examination" as specified in the attached table.
- Those who were absent from the examination for reasons other than those specified in the previous issue, and who are permitted to take the examination by the subject instructor.
- The subjects eligible for supplementary examinations are those for which the designated examination (including those conducted during the additional period) was administered.
- As a general rule, the supplementary examination will be held on a designated date and time after the end of the extended period.
(Procedure for taking the supplementary examination)
Article 5-2
- Those wishing to take the make-up exam must submit a "Make-up Exam Application" to the Academic Affairs Office by the end of the additional application period, along with documents proving the reason for their absence.
- Those permitted to take the make-up examination shall pay the prescribed fee. However, the fee may be waived depending on the reason for absence.
- Fees paid pursuant to the provisions of the preceding paragraph will not be refunded for any reason, except as otherwise provided.
(Graduation retake exam)
Article 6
- Students eligible for the graduation re-examination are those who fall under any of the following categories and who are permitted to take the exam by the course instructor.
- Those who do not meet the graduation requirements
- Those who do not meet the qualification requirements stipulated in the school regulations.
- The upper limit for the number of missing subjects specified in the preceding paragraph shall be as follows:
- Four subjects Faculty of Liberal Arts
- Six subjects Faculty of Engineering
- The subjects eligible for a graduation re-examination are those that meet all of the following conditions:
- Courses that applicants have registered for
- Of the subjects specified in the previous issue, subjects for which the applicant took the designated examination or an equivalent examination and was unable to obtain credits.
- The graduation retake examination will be held at the end of the academic year.
(Promotion retake exam)
Article 6-2
- Re-examinations for advancement to the next grade may be conducted by faculties that deem it necessary for the operation of the curriculum, etc.
- Those eligible to take the re-examination for promotion to the next grade are those who meet all of the following conditions:
- Those who do not meet the requirements for promotion to the next grade.
- Those permitted to take the exam by the course instructor.
- Those whose total number of credits in subjects for which they are permitted to take the advancement retake exam is equal to or greater than the number of credits lacking to meet the advancement requirements.
- The subjects subject to re-examination for advancement to the next grade shall be in accordance with Article 3 of the preceding paragraph.
- The retake examination for promotion to the next grade will be held at the end of the academic year. However, for subjects where the course is completed in the first semester, the examination may be held at the end of the first semester.
- Faculty that conduct re-examinations for advancement to the next grade shall establish guidelines for conducting re-examinations for advancement to the next grade after consulting with the Director of Academic Affairs on the following matters.
- Eligible students and subjects for examination that meet the requirements set forth in paragraphs 2 and 3.
- The maximum number of credits or subjects that are insufficient to meet the promotion requirements when allowing the examination.
- Other matters necessary for conducting the advancement and re-examination
- Faculty that conduct re-examinations for advancement to the next grade shall report the guidelines for conducting re-examinations for advancement to the next grade, as set forth in the preceding paragraph, to the Director of Academic Affairs and the Academic Affairs Committee by the end of June and obtain their approval.
(Procedure for taking a retake exam)
Article 6-3
- Applicants taking the re-examination for advancement to the next grade or the re-examination for graduation must submit a re-examination request to the Academic Affairs Office by the designated deadline.
- Those permitted to retake the examination shall pay the prescribed fee.
- Fees paid pursuant to the provisions of the preceding paragraph will not be refunded for any reason, except as otherwise provided.
(Eligibility requirements)
Article 7
- Examinations will only be permitted for subjects registered for the current academic year. However, even if you have registered for a subject, you will not be permitted to take the examination if any of the following conditions apply.
- If student fees are not paid by the designated due date. However, this excludes cases where an extension request has been submitted and the extension period has not yet expired.
- If you do not have your student ID (including temporary student ID) with you
- If a student is absent for more than one-fifth of the total class hours and the instructor of the subject does not permit them to take the exam for that subject,
- If 30 minutes have passed since the start of the exam
(Grade evaluation)
Article 8
- Grades for course subjects will be evaluated based on factors such as exams, class participation, research reports, experimental reports, design and drafting, and practical skills.
- The evaluation is based on a maximum score of 100 points, with a passing score of 60 points or higher.
- Those who pass will be awarded the prescribed credits.
- The report card will show the grade points and the GPA (Grade Point Average).
- The evaluation for the advancement retake exam and the graduation retake exam will be calculated by subtracting 10% from the score obtained by scoring according to the same criteria as the regular exam.
(Misconduct, etc.)
Article 9
- In order to ensure the fair and smooth conduct of the examination, separate regulations have been established regarding the disciplinary actions and measures taken against those who engage in academic misconduct at Tohoku Gakuin University, and the examination guidelines are set forth separately.
(Administrative)
Article 10
- All matters related to these regulations will be handled by the Academic Affairs Division.
(Revision/Abolition)
Article 11
- Any amendment or repeal of these regulations shall be initiated by the Academic Affairs Committee, approved by the Faculty Council, and then carried out by the President, who shall report to the Board of Directors.
- Supplementary Provisions (April 1, 1996)

- These regulations shall come into effect on April 1, 1996.
- For students who enrolled in or before fiscal year 1995, the previous rules shall apply until fiscal year 1998, notwithstanding the provisions of the amended Article 6, Paragraph 2.

- These regulations shall come into effect on April 1, 1998.

- These regulations shall come into effect on April 1, 2000.

- Job application examinations (including teacher recruitment examinations and civil service recruitment examinations).
- Fulfillment of duties as a prospective juror, juror, or alternate juror

II. Certificates and documents to be attached to the "Application for Supplementary Examination" (The numbers correspond to the numbers in I.)
- Medical certificate, receipts clearly stating your name and the date of your visit, etc.
- An invitation or notice that can confirm the date of absence.
- Birth registration or birth certificate

- A funeral attendance confirmation document or official document confirming the death, etc., that can verify the date of absence.

These "Examination Precautions" stipulate the matters necessary for the fair and smooth implementation of the "Designated Examinations" and "Special Examinations" as defined in Article 2 of the Tohoku Gakuin University Examination Enforcement Regulations. When taking the examination, you must observe the following precautions. Furthermore, cheating is prohibited. If you engage in cheating, you will be suspended from school in accordance with Article 53 of the school regulations, and prescribed measures will be taken in accordance with the regulations concerning disciplinary actions and measures against those who cheat in examinations, which are separately stipulated.
- Follow the supervisor's instructions.
- You must take the exam on the day and time you registered for the subject during the academic year, at the designated date, time, and examination venue. However, if there are separate instructions, you must follow those instructions.
- When taking the exam, remove your student ID card from its case and place it on your desk in a location easily visible to the supervisor, such as on the aisle side.
- Students who forget their student ID must obtain a temporary student ID from the Student Affairs Office (Student Section) before the start of the exam.
- Use a watch that only has a timekeeping function.
- Electronic devices such as mobile phones (including PHS), smartphones, and smartwatches should be turned off after disabling alarm settings, and should not be worn.
- Please clearly indicate your department, year, group, student number, and name on the examination seating chart.
- Only your student ID and any other permitted items should be placed on the desk; all other items should be placed under the chair.
- Electronic devices such as computers, mobile phones (including PHS), smartphones, electronic dictionaries, smartwatches, and IC recorders are prohibited even if the conditions for bringing them in state "all permitted." However, if permission is granted by the supervising teacher, only those permitted devices will be allowed.
- If there is writing or other material on the desk, raise your hand and have it checked by the supervisor.
- Do not exchange any items or other goods (such as writing implements) that are permitted to be brought in.
- If 30 minutes have passed since the start of the exam, you will lose your eligibility to take the exam and will not be allowed to enter the examination room. Furthermore, you may not leave the room until instructed to do so by the supervisor.
- Submit your answers according to the supervisor's instructions.
- For classes in the next period, do not enter the room until the previous period's class has finished and the supervisor has left.
