Tohoku Gakuin University Student Award Regulations

(Purpose)

Article 1
  1. These regulations establish the necessary matters concerning the awarding of students (including Graduate Schools students; hereinafter the same) or student organizations at Tohoku Gakuin University.

(Criteria for awards)

Article 2
  1. Awards may be given to students or student organizations that fall under any of the following categories.
    1. If you are a student with excellent academic performance at graduation.
    2. In academic research activities, if any of the following conditions are met:
      1. a. When receiving an award from an international or national academic society.
      2. (i) In other cases where the work has received high praise from academic societies or similar organizations.
    3. In extracurricular activities, if any of the following conditions are met
      1. a. In the case of participating in, exhibiting, or performing in international-scale competitions, exhibitions, performances, etc.
      2. (i) In the event of participating in, exhibiting, or performing in a nationwide competition, exhibition, contest, etc., and winning a prize (including an equivalent prize) in the top three.
      3. (c) If you participate in, exhibit, or perform in a competition, exhibition, contest, etc. held in the Tohoku region and win first place (including an equivalent prize).
    4. If any of the following applies in relation to social activities
      1. a. In cases where outstanding activities are recognized in volunteer work, etc.
      2. (i) When contributing to saving lives, preventing crime, or preventing disasters.
    5. In addition, in cases where there have been other acts or actions deemed worthy of commendation equivalent to or greater than those described in the preceding items.
  2. Students who have previously received disciplinary action will be excluded from consideration for awards.

(Nomination of award recipients)

Article 3
  1. The dean of the faculty or graduate school may, after deliberation by the faculty council or graduate school committee, recommend to the president any student who is deemed to fall under any of the items in paragraph 1 of the preceding article.
  2. The Dean of Students may, after deliberation by the Student Committee, recommend to the President any student or student organization that is deemed to fall under any of the items in paragraph 1 of the preceding article. In this case, the Dean of Students shall notify the Dean of the Faculty or Graduate School to which the student belongs.

(Decision on award recipients)

Article 4
  1. The president shall decide which student or student group to commend based on the recommendations stipulated in the preceding article.

(Method of awarding)

Article 5
  1. The awards will be presented by the university president, who will then present the certificates of commendation.
  2. The award may include a certificate of commendation and a commemorative gift.

(Timing of awards)

Article 6
  1. Awards will be presented promptly each time a decision is made to recognize an individual.

(Announcement)

Article 7
  1. The university president will announce the students or student groups that receive awards each time. The award recipients will also be announced again at the graduation ceremony for that academic year.

(Administrative)

Article 8
  1. The Student Affairs Division of the Student Services Department handles administrative matters related to awards for students and student organizations.

(Bylaws, etc.)

Article 9
  1. In addition to what is stipulated in these regulations, necessary detailed rules and regulations concerning the awarding of students or student organizations shall be established separately.

(Revision/Abolition)

Article 10
  1. Any amendment or repeal of these regulations shall be initiated by the Student Committee, approved by the Faculty Council, carried out by the President, and then approved by the Board of Directors.
Supplementary provisions
These regulations shall come into effect on April 1, 2006.
Supplementary Provisions (January 1, 2007)
These regulations shall come into effect on January 1, 2007.
Supplementary Provisions (Revised No. 106, October 19, 2015)
These regulations shall come into effect on October 19, 2015.
Supplementary Provisions (Revised No. 4, January 20, 2016)
These regulations shall come into effect on April 1, 2016.
