Regulations concerning scholarship students and honor students at Tohoku Gakuin University

(Purpose)

Article 1
  1. This regulation, based on Article 50 of the Tohoku Gakuin University Academic Regulations (hereinafter referred to as "Academic Regulations"), stipulates the necessary matters concerning scholarship students and honor students.

(Number of scholarship students and honor students)

Article 2
  1. The number of scholarship recipients for each department will be based on the enrollment capacity and will be as shown in the attached table.
  2. The number of top-performing students in each department shall be calculated as 3% of the total number of students enrolled in that department in each academic year at the end of the academic year preceding the award year (rounded to one decimal place).

Article 3
  1. The amount of the special scholarship stipulated in Article 50, Paragraph 2 of the school regulations shall be 300,000 yen.
  2. The amount of the scholarship for outstanding students, as stipulated in Article 50, Paragraph 2 of the school regulations, shall be 100,000 yen.

(Selection criteria for scholarship students and honor students)

Article 4
  1. Scholarship recipients and honor students are selected from students enrolled in the award year, with the highest Grade Point Average (GPA) scores in each department from the previous academic year being the deciding factor.
  2. The selection of scholarship recipients and honor students as stipulated in the preceding paragraph shall be limited to those who have earned 30 or more credits in the previous academic year.
  3. If there is a tie for the lowest score among scholarship students and honor students, they will be included in both the scholarship student and honor student categories.
  4. Students enrolled in individual courses, transfer students, those who have re-enrolled, those on leave of absence, or those who have returned to school are excluded from the selection process.

Article 5
  1. Scholarship recipients and honor students shall be selected by the President based on a proposal from the Student Committee, after deliberation by the Faculty Council, and reported to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

(Administrative)

Article 6
  1. All matters related to these regulations will be handled by the Student Affairs Division of the Student Services Department.

(Revision/Abolition)

Article 7
  1. Any amendment or repeal of these regulations shall be initiated by the Student Committee, approved by the Faculty Council, carried out by the President, and then approved by the Board of Directors.
Supplementary provisions
These regulations shall come into effect on April 1, 2026.
