Philosophy/purpose

By conducting research and education that understands local communities in relation to the global socio-economic system and that enables diverse stakeholders to work together to address various local issues, we aim to cultivate human resources who can contribute to solving these issues.

Educational goals

  • To develop human resources who can consider local communities in relation to the entire socio-economic system.
  • We train people who can focus on the diverse attributes of people living in local communities and understand local issues such as economic disparities, various forms of discrimination and inequality, and disaster recovery as challenges to realizing an inclusive and fair society.
  • This program cultivates talented individuals who can formulate policies on regional issues from the multifaceted perspectives of public administration, economy, industry, and civil society.
  • We aim to develop proactive individuals who can identify local issues and take the lead in implementing policies to resolve them.

Desired student profile

  1. Possess sufficient basic academic ability and have a good understanding of the educational content and characteristics of this department.
  2. Have a clear desire to study in this department and be able to express this in your own words.
  3. I am interested in the specific social issues facing the region.
  4. I am eager to contribute to exploring and resolving local issues from the perspectives of administration and politics, economic and social structures, and collaboration between residents and businesses.
