Scholarship Overview

1. Target faculties and graduate schools

All undergraduate students, all graduate Graduate Schools students

2. Types of scholarships
kinds interest Loan method
First class interest-free Monthly scholarship Generally, payments are made once a month.
Second type Interest-bearing Monthly scholarship Generally, payments are made once a month.
At the time of enrollment
Special increase
Interest-bearing lump sum The above scholarship will be increased and transferred only once upon the first payment.
*Applications are only accepted for the semester in which you enroll (or transfer).
3. Monthly loan amount

Master's program/Master's program Doctoral course
First class one's home Choose your desired monthly payment from ¥20,000 / ¥30,000 / ¥40,000 / ¥54,000. Choose either 50,000 yen or 88,000 yen. Choose either 80,000 yen or 122,000 yen.
Outside the home Choose your desired monthly payment from ¥20,000 / ¥30,000 / ¥40,000 / ¥50,000 / ¥64,000.
Second type Choose your desired monthly amount in increments of 10,000 yen, from 20,000 yen to 120,000 yen. Choose your desired monthly payment from ¥50,000 / ¥80,000 / ¥100,000 / ¥130,000 / ¥150,000
Special increase upon enrollment Select your desired amount in increments of 100,000 yen, between 100,000 and 500,000 yen.

5. Conditions for continuation

Once a year, if you are deemed eligible as a scholarship recipient based on the results of (1) and (2) below, you may continue receiving the loan for the following year. The loan can be provided up to the expected graduation/completion date.

  1. Submission of Scholarship Continuation Request
    Time of year: Around December to January every year
    Submission instructions: Notices will be posted on MYTG for eligible participants.

How to apply

New students who are listed as "employment candidates"

Please check the procedures for candidates who have been selected for a Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) scholarship.

New applicants (current student recruitment)
*Students who have failed a grade or are repeating a year are not eligible.
1. Recruitment announcement period

First recruitment period (spring regular recruitment): mid-April, second recruitment period (autumn regular recruitment): mid-September

2. Application Procedure
Second round of recruitment for fiscal year 2026 (regular recruitment in autumn)
  • Application period: October 16, 2026 (Friday) to October 23, 2026 (Friday)

① Receipt of application documents

Distribution start date: September 14, 2026 (Monday)

② Reservation of date and time for submitting documents

Use the reservation form to book your desired date and time for submitting documents within the application period.

*The reservation form is included in the application documents that will be distributed.

*There is a limited number of reservations available for each time slot, so please book early.

Reservation start date: September 14, 2026 (Monday)

③ Prepare supporting documents and fill out the forms.
④ ScalarNet Input

The application information filled out on the "Scholarship Network Input Draft Form" is entered online.

Input deadline: Two days before the date you made your reservation in step ②.

⑤ Procedure for submitting your My Number

Enter your My Number information online.

Input deadline: Two days before the date you made your reservation in step ②.

⑥ Submission of documents
On the date and time you reserved in step ②, bring the documents you prepared and filled out in step ③ to the counter, have the documents and the information entered in the ScholarNet checked, and then submit them.
⑦ Sending of "Scholarship Confirmation Form and Local Tax Agreement Form"

Mail the necessary documents directly to the Japan Student Services Organization.

Mailing deadline: Must arrive within one week after the completion of the My Number submission procedure in step ⑤.
