[For new students entering in the 2026 academic year]
Procedures for candidates selected for Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) scholarships

All job candidates

Please submit the "Notification of Selection as a Candidate for University/College Scholarship Recipient for Fiscal Year 2026 [For Submission]" (hereinafter referred to as the "Notification of Selection as a Candidate") issued by the Japan Student Services Organization at the candidate briefing session to be held during the orientation period at the date and time listed below.

*If you do not submit the required documents, the grant or loan will not be provided.

In exchange for submitting your "Notification of Selection as a Candidate," you will receive a user ID and password necessary for entering your enrollment form. Please submit (enter) your enrollment form online within the specified period.

Procedure Flow
  1. Before enrollment
    1. ① Fill in the required information on the back of the "Notification of Selection as a Candidate for Employment" in the section for "Post-Enrollment Information (for students enrolling in domestic universities, etc.)".

    2. ② Check the "Documents to be submitted at the information session" below and prepare to submit the necessary documents.
    3. ③ (For eligible individuals only) Scholarship recipient candidates (document codes: D, E, F, G) who wish to receive a monthly allowance for living away from home must prepare documents proving that they are "commuting from home" (e.g., a copy of their apartment lease agreement, proof of residency). (See "Scholarship Recipient Candidate Handbook," pp. 10, 18)
      • *Submission methods and deadlines will be explained at the information session.
      • *For those who have prepared the necessary documents for commuting from outside their home before enrolling in school and wish to pay the monthly fee for commuting from outside their home starting with the first payment, please see here for instructions on how to proceed.
  2. Information session
    1. ① Attend the information session held during the orientation period after enrollment.
    2. ② At the information session, submit the "Notification of Selection as a Candidate for Employment."
    3. ③ Receive the necessary documents from the university for subsequent procedures.
  3. submission

    Submit (enter) your application data (enrollment notification) online by the deadline announced at the information session.

  4. Start of transfer

    Those who complete the submission (input) of their application data (enrollment notification) by the deadline will begin receiving payments in May (payments for April and May will be made in May).

Regarding the new support system for higher education (Japan Student Services Organization grant scholarships and tuition fee reductions)

Students eligible for the new higher education support system can receive reductions or exemptions on tuition and entrance fees.

Regarding initial enrollment fees and tuition fee reductions/exemptions
The full amount of the initial enrollment fee must be paid by the enrollment deadline. After enrollment, if you are approved for tuition fee reductions, the reduced amount will be refunded.
Application procedures for tuition fee reduction/exemption (refund)
If you have been selected as a candidate for the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) grant scholarship, please follow the procedures outlined above. Procedures regarding tuition fee reductions (refunds) will be explained at the information session mentioned above.

To those who received scholarships before entering university (Graduate Schools):

If you wish to defer repayment of a Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) scholarship that you received while attending a vocational school or university before entering university (Graduate Schools), please follow the procedures below. Repayment will be deferred while you are enrolled.

Procedure:
I submitted a "Request for Deferment of Enrollment" through ScholarNet Personal.
