In Professor Shigeru Sato's seminar, we study the relationship between national and local government finances and welfare policies. To gain firsthand experience with these issues, we incorporate on-site interviews (interviews).
In 2011, we focused on the relationship between post-disaster recovery and social welfare, interviewing people in Sendai City and NPOs working in temporary housing. We also collaborated with other universities to visit Yamakoshi and Oguni in Niigata Prefecture, which were affected by the Chuetsu Earthquake, and interviewed government officials, recovery support workers, and disaster victims who had started new businesses.
In 2012, I plan to go to Osaka to conduct research on poverty.
