Please tell me why you chose Department of Co-existing Society Studies.

Y-san:

I was interested in the issue of poverty.

E:

I want to revitalize my hometown. It's a hot spring area, but it's not very well known. First, I want to revitalize it through tourism, and then I want to work in government. In order to work in government, I wanted to study welfare and coexistence. Plus, the upperclassmen were wonderful, so I thought it must be a good department.

Ms. I:

I aspire to be a teacher. I considered attending a university specializing in education, but naturally, that would mean everyone there is aiming to be a teacher. I wanted to meet people with diverse dreams, so I chose Department of Co-existing Society Studies.

Ms. M:

I've lived abroad before, and I wanted to incorporate the best aspects of foreign welfare systems into Japan. To do that, I realized that simply studying welfare wouldn't be enough; since money is involved, I also needed to study economics. I figured Department of Co-existing Society Studies would allow me to study both, right?

P-san:

Me too. My grandfather became ill, and that's when I became interested in elderly care. But my original interest was in economics, so I thought I could study both here.

Ms. M:

I thought the combination of economics and social welfare was novel, and I think it's very well suited to thinking about the future.

P-san:

I think the curriculum is really good. I was also drawn to the fact that it includes fieldwork.

Ms. M:

I'm also interested in fieldwork-based study tours and American studies.

E:

I'm interested in the theory of aging economics. I think cooperation between young people and the elderly is important for revitalizing local communities, but I have many questions about how to achieve that cooperation. I want to find some hints on that.

What do you think of it now that you've actually enrolled? Are you enjoying university life?

All:

It's fun!

I made lots of friends.

Y-san:

I feel like I made another new friend today.

E:

It seems that many people who enroll in Department of Co-existing Society Studies are interested in "coexistence" and therefore enjoy communicating with others.

P-san:

Me too. I went to an all-girls high school, and to be honest, I was a little bad at talking to guys. But thanks to everyone in my department, I'm perfectly fine now.

Ms. M:

I get the feeling that there are a lot of interesting people in Department of Co-existing Society Studies.
