Fieldwork to deepen understanding of diverse people
One of the most distinctive features of this department is its emphasis on "fieldwork." This is a subject designed to provide opportunities for interaction with diverse people and hands-on experience in various settings. The aim is to deepen understanding of diverse people and deepen self-exploration by going to the site, seeing, hearing, moving, and feeling, using all five senses to learn. Various programs are available, such as fieldwork to learn about barrier-free environments through hands-on experience, volunteer activities at hospitals, and participation in NPO/NGO activities.
- Ia: "Another Way of Working" in Nonprofit Organizations
- We will conduct interviews with young people working in NPOs, analyze their experiences in civic activities and changes in their professional attitudes, and explore ways of working in non-profit organizations.
- Ib: Volunteering at facilities for the elderly, hospitals, etc.
- You will gain volunteer experience at elderly care facilities, hospitals, and other similar places.
- Ic: Thinking about the child-rearing environment
- Students will gain practical experience at facilities related to children, such as community centers, and learn about the environment surrounding child-rearing.
- IIa: Reflecting on our lives through tropical rainforest experiences
- We will visit the rainforests of Malaysia and consider the natural environment and the events surrounding people there in relation to our own daily lives.
- IIb: Learning about multicultural coexistence
- You will have the opportunity to visit various multicultural coexistence sites, interact with foreign residents, NPO members, and students, and learn about various initiatives.
- IIc: Interviewing individuals about their life stories
- We visit sites where social problems and discrimination issues are occurring, and listen to the stories of the lives that people in vulnerable or minority positions have led.
- Joint Fieldwork Report Meeting
- At the joint reporting session, participants articulate their fieldwork experiences and share them with others, allowing them to reflect on what they have learned.
