For all students enrolled in faculties and departments that will cease accepting new students, we will ensure that they maintain their affiliation with their chosen department and the educational environment there until graduation. Philosophy and Goals

Philosophy/purpose

While learning the essence of economics, students will deepen their understanding of diverse others, with differences in age, gender, disability, ethnicity and culture, and aim to cultivate individuals who can conceive and implement new socio-economic systems based on the idea of living together.

Educational goals
  1. The program aims to cultivate human resources who can deepen their understanding of modern society from the perspectives of economics, policy, and society, and who have the ability to make proposals and put into practice the construction of new socio-economic systems.
  2. In particular, we aim to cultivate human resources who have the ability to think about long-term sustainable socio-economic systems in the context of a declining population and an aging society.
  3. We aim to cultivate individuals who have the ability to live and think in order to lead a more desirable life as independent individuals, and who are also considerate of the nature of relationships between people.
The ideal student for this department
  1. Possess sufficient basic academic ability and have a good understanding of the educational content and characteristics of this department.
  2. Have a clear desire to study in this department and be able to express this in your own words.
  3. They have a strong desire to actively engage in activities related to human coexistence, such as volunteer work and international exchange.

Undergraduate learning objectives

  1. Based on the founding principles, students should respect the independence of themselves and others, be aware of the roles and responsibilities they must fulfill in society, and strive to contribute to society while collaborating with others.
  2. To understand the significance of learning and to acquire the ability to think for oneself through the acquisition of foundational skills (such as communication skills and information literacy).
  3. To systematically understand the fundamentals and applied knowledge of economics, and to possess the ability to grasp and analyze various problems in modern society based on that foundation.
  4. To possess the ability to understand and analyze the unprecedented social trends of population decline and an aging society in modern Japan from multiple perspectives, including not only economics but also the nature of social structure, policies, and civic activities.
  5. To acknowledge the diversity of lifestyles, understand the significance of a "symbiotic society" where each individual can live a life of dignity, and acquire the ability to envision, propose, and practically solve problems for building a new socio-economic system that can cope with a declining population and an aging society.
  6. To develop an interest in and insight into domestic and international inequalities, economic disparities, and various forms of discrimination, and to cultivate an attitude that strives for a just society and open human relationships.
