In this course, we will visit various multicultural settings and conduct research primarily through "participant observation." Participant observation is a research method in which you learn by experiencing things yourself.
In response to the increasing number of foreign residents, initiatives for "multicultural coexistence," aiming for coexistence with people from different cultures, are being implemented in various places. This program will involve participating in support activities for foreigners conducted by NPOs and other organizations in and around Miyagi Prefecture. Furthermore, it will provide opportunities to learn about various initiatives by visiting areas in the Kanto or Chubu regions with large foreign worker populations, participating in events, and interacting with local foreign residents, NPO members, and students.
