Student impressions

• I was amazed by the life Ms. Maeno has lived. It's a way of life I can't even imagine living now. "Cherishing things that move your heart" sounds simple, but I think it's difficult. I used to think that you have to give something up in order to survive in society, so Ms. Maeno's story really resonated with me.
• My perspective on used books has changed. I think it's an ideal space for book lovers, where each book is handled with care. The cafe also uses high-quality ingredients, making the food reassuring to eat, and I felt that a lot of thought and care went into each dish.
• This lecture included topics from overseas, which at first glance might seem far removed from my own life. However, at the heart of Mr. Maeno's actions lies the existence of books. Books are all around us, and not something distant at all. I was reminded once again that reading books broadens one's perspective. We live in a world where it's possible to see the world with just a smartphone, but I feel that a smartphone alone cannot convey that depth.
• Mr. Maeno's life story was so gripping that it kept me on the edge of my seat. I only knew book cafes as a combination of cafes and bookstores, but after hearing Mr. Maeno's story, I felt that there was something different about Mars Garden. Perhaps I felt that way because of Mr. Maeno's alternative way of thinking, which is not bound by a single set of values.
• I was impressed by Maeno-san's proactiveness. Even after entering university, I still haven't figured out what I want to do. I enjoy reading, so I was inspired to try taking action and doing something, just like Maeno-san. I want to find another world.
